Both teams were wrong. Cyclops was so obsessed with restore the mutant race that he didn't care about all the damage that the phoenix could do. The f*cking firebird had destroyed a lot of planets while he went to the earth and Scott nkew that the phoenix were crazy since Phoenix Endsong). Scott thought he could control a fragmented phoenix, but Jean, a more powerful host, couldn't do it. Scott got what he deserved.
A better leader (one less mutant-fanatic) had known not play with comics entities
About the Captain America... well, you said everything i can said. The avengers attacked the "X-government" of a state (Utopy), tried kidnapped Hope, attacked xmen and x-babies, planned beat the 5 phoenix when they weren't corrupted and their doings triggered the dark phoenix. During all this they were sure that they were good and the X-men bad or wrong. They make me sick.
